NSW Planning Process
The Wala Wala Pumped Hydro project is progressing through the NSW planning and assessment process.
The Project's Scoping Report was published on the NSW Major Projects Portal on 12 August 2026.
The Scoping Report outlines the proposed project details including key environmental and planning matters to be assessed - and informs the next stage of project assessment.

Federal Environmental Assessment
Wala Wala Pumped Hydro has also been referred under the Australian Government’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The EPBC Referral was accepted as valid and opened for public comment on 3 September 2026.
